The IBA (International Bar Association) in partnership with the Federation of International Women Lawyers (FIDA Nigeria chapter) is set to hold its Women Business Lawyers Initiative in Africa in Lagos on November 2nd, 2015.

Speakers including respected legal practitioners from major firms in Africa and the judiciary will come together to talk on the legal practices in Nigeria towards the goal of supporting and enabling women business lawyers to polish their international practices and increase their knowledge of standards and trends in law practice.

The event will also tackle the issues of the rise of alternative dispute resolution mechanism, investment treaty arbitration, international arbitration in oil and gas transactions and foreign investment in Nigeria. Other issues to be discussed are all forms of harassment and abuse in the corporate workplace.

A statement from IBA added that mastering the rules of evidence, trial practice and preparation and effective lawyering while balancing multiple roles will form part of the discourse at the event.
